We have been really busy working on our trees. Several were cut down and the large pecan trees were pruned in the front yard. Many thanks to Trimmer Up Tree Service for doing such a great job safely and efficiently. We now have lots of firewood available and good pecan wood for smoking in your BBQ's. Don did the firewood cutting and Gigi did the stacking. We worked all week to clean up all the limbs from the pruning. |

We hope this blog finds everyone well and embracing the new year. It seems that the holidays came and went so fast. We have lots to catch up on. We had a very interesting family spend the night with us with two horses. Spurs Ministries travels around the state presenting the gospel through man and horse demonstrations. We enjoyed having them. If you are traveling with horses and have your own secure corrals, we have lots of room to set you up. |

Fall has arrived. It's a wonderful time of year to be outside and enjoying campfires at night. We had a great chili night and campfire on October 10th. Good food and great guests - life is good!! Our guests are excellent cooks and best of all they share! My sister, Nancy, came to visit for a week from Carson City, Nevada. Her first visit to Alabama. It was so good to see her! As always, she was a great help and the time went by way too fast. |

It's amazing how fast the puppies are growing. They are 5 weeks old this weekend. Patches is a good mama. We are starting to wean them. It has to be a relief for Patches! Nine puppies on the move all the time looking for dinner. We had them out of their play yard today. Fun to watch them run around. Definetly bundles of love. So far we have homes for 5 of them. Don will probably want to keep one too. The new kitty, "Oreo" blends right in. |

The puppies have arrived! Back in May a stray dog wandered into the park that had been obviously mistreated. Somehow Don thought this one was different and wanted to see if she was adoptable. Don has been wanting another dog since our dear Saturday died last summer at 17 years old. She gave us many years of furry pleasure. So Patches is her name and she has a really good heart. Don is really great with animals and worked with her for two months just to build enough trust to pet her. |

A great group of enthusiastic kayak and canoers gathered for the Autauga Creek Inaugural Paddle weekend July 20-22, . The weather was great for the most part. A little rain cooled off the air but didn't dampen any spirits. Don and I were either busy cooking or picking up and delivering food for the event. The weekend events started on Friday with Dr. Bob's Traveling Snake show and catered pulled pork sandwiches from Fat Boy's in Prattville. Learned lots about the local snakes! |

Happy 4th of July and God Bless America!! It's been really hot. I never thought I would say that 90 degrees felt cool, but after 100 plus degrees last week, it did. The pool was the place to be. The big news is our local Autauga Creek is now part of the Alabama Scenic River Trail. The Autauga Creek Inaugural Weekend Paddle is set for Friday, July 20 to Sunday, July 22nd. Come join a family fun filled weekend. The creek is very beautiful and mostly shaded. |
