Spring gardening and more

Time flies so fast. Spring has been busy planting trees, starting the square foot garden, painting picnic tables and getting the buildings and grounds ready for a great summer. The continuous bloom of flowers has been spectacular.

It was so warm in March, that we opened the pool April 1st, a month early. The water is definetly refreshing and the kids are loving it. Don also built a horseshoe pit and everyone has been enjoying the friendly competition.

Amanda and Thomas came to visit in February and it was wonderful to see them. We really enjoyed the days we had together.

Easter morning was beautiful and we had a pancake breakfast and campfire for our guests.

We are thankful for all our blessings and wonderful guests.

Spring is here!

Wow! It's February and spring has sprung already.

Walked out early the other morning and there was an amazing chorus of songbirds everywhere. Robins, cardinals and wrens were visiting by the hundreds! Their songs filled the air with a roar. It was quite the sight! Miss Kitty thought so too.

Don and I continue to work alot outside. It has been a mild winter. Some of the fruit trees have started to bloom. With planting season around the corner, we are anxious to get the garden ready. I have been pruning shrubs and fruit trees and discovering fruit trees we didn't know we had! I bought some flowering bulbs, rhubarb and asparagus plants and will hopefully get them planted in the next week. Don found and fixed a major water leak. He is just amazing and works so hard to make the park better everyday! There is always a project going on.

We enjoyed a wonderful campfire night with our guests from Pennsylvania and their family from Prattville, welcoming their new grandson Chase. Congratulations! He is two weeks old and just darling. His big brothers had a great time too. Even though it rained part of the time, we gathered around the campfire and under the gazebo and had a wonderful time. The boys found the rain puddles, and being boys, had a great time in the mud! Cathie showed me how to make mountain pies and they were delicious. It was new to me, and I'll have to find some pie irons to make some more for our summertime group campfires. Cathie always has something yummy to eat! It was alot of fun.

Thank you Ray and Cathie for staying with us and inviting us to spend time with your lovely family! Many thanks to Ray too, for fixing the alternator in Don's truck!

Another new for me was cooking a venison roast. It was delicious and thank you Robbie for sharing with us.

Our daughter Amanda and her husband Thomas will be visiting over the holiday weekend. We are anxious to see them. It will be their first trip to visit us here at the park.

New beginnings at Kountry Air RV Park

Welcome to our blog!

This is all new for us. We are excited about being in Alabama and love Kountry Air RV Park. Our adventure started in June 2011 as new owners of the park.

Don and I left Carson City, in northern Nevada, with two dogs and a cat, my sister Kathy, and wearing our winter coats with snowflakes falling.

We wondered why we needed coats at all when we arrived here 6 days later!!

We hit the deck running and have been working diligently ever since to make this the best RV park and campground in the Prattville area.

It is truly beautiful here with the many trees and flowering plants. I particularly like the camellias which started blooming in December. I am looking forward to having a garden.

We enjoy hearing the many song birds and watching the squirrels do their acrobats in the trees. It's amazing how the simple things in country life can give you so much pleasure.

We have enjoyed many nights around the campfire with our guests who have become our friends and extended family to us. We learn new things everyday from cooking to gardening to whose catching the biggest fish and where.

We are thankful for our family and new friends and guests we have met.

We look forward to making your stay here at Kountry Air RV Park the best ever!
